These first 2-3 products you will need to have on hand before your puppy arrives home. We recommend you order them now! 

Nutrition is the number one way to maintain a healthy dog. We have tried a variety of foods and there are many great foods to choose from. Do your homework and feed your beloved family member a quality diet. Currently, we are feeding NutriSource® which provides super premium nutrition in a scientifically formulated easy-to-digest food.  If you plan to feed something different that is fine. But please do so after your puppy is home for at least 1 month. Going to a new home is stressful for a new puppy and is not the time to be changing up his/her food. Most dog foods do not supply you pet with all the needed vitamins and minerals. NuVet Plus covers all the missing elements to give you pet the perfect balance. If you are flying in to pick up your puppy, you will need a soft sided Air-line approved pet carried that will fit under your seat in-cabin. This is our favorite and is cost efficient. If shopping around make sure it is "Air-line Approved".

Even if you plan to have a groomer groom your dog, it is a good idea to have a few simple tools on hand to keep you dogs coats healthy and easy to manage. Your puppy will need to be brushed at least 2 times a week. This is our favorite detangling brush. It works well for everyday brushing and maintaining your dogs coat. 

Nail trimmings may need to be done more often than grooms. Keeping your pets nails short and clean will keep them bouncing around and ready to play. These are our favorite nail trimmers that we use.

We highly recommend a pet-safe enzymatic toothpaste. Teaching your puppy to accept toothbrushing early makes it easier and more enjoyable for them as adults. Your pets teeth should be brushed frequently to keep them healthy and tarter free. We like Virbac C.E.T. Enzymatic Toothpaste in Vanilla Mint.

There are so many high quality collars out there. We recommend a collar with some form of identification be worn at all times. Even though your puppy will come with a micro-chip he/she may be found where a micro-chip reader may not be readily available. Here is a good option that comes with a matching leash.

This harness is adjustable with reflective material to be seen at night. We recommend a harness because it doesn't pull directly on your dogs neck like a collar would. You may want to use a harness for walks and a collar for everyday use. 

We are advocates of crate training. When integrated properly, crate-training is extremely effective for house-training and transitioning a puppy to their new home. We like the Midwest iCrate because of its quality, affordability, and the fact that it folds down easily for transport. The included divider panel allows you to use the same crate from puppy to adult. 

An Exercise Pen is another great option for house-breaking. Helping to keep your pup safe and contained, exercise pens can be used in conjunction with a crate allowing pup to go in and out as they please. This can help alleviate some of the whining and crying that can occur as they adjust to the crate. If you can not supervise your new puppy 100% of the time, keep them in the Exercise pen to avoid accidents around the house! 

Chances are you're envisioning your pup curled up in a cozy dog bed. This could happen, but most likely, your pup will prefer the feel of cool tile or hardwood floor beneath them. We love the elevated dog beds. There are many to chose from. Here are a few options. 

This elevated bed is great because it is breathable with mesh allowing airflow to keep your pet cool. It creates extra comfort and has very low impact on pressure points and joints. Very easy to clean and lightweight.
